Our Story

In March of 2020, counselor and founder, Sara Wright, was navigating a pregnancy and a global pandemic. Through the isolating journey of her own pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period, the idea for The Mindful Mama was born.

By the time her daughter was three months old, Sara had completed specialty training for PMADs. She began the work to educate those around her about the struggles of mental health during pregnancy and after birth. When that wasn’t enough, Sara made the exciting decision to step out on faith. She created The Mindful Mama, a place of mental health counseling, support, and resources for new moms in Kentucky.

What is a PMAD?

Perinatal: During pregnancy or the postpartum period (up to one year after birth.)
Mood: Bipolar, Depression
Anxiety: Anxiety, Panic, OCD, PTSD
Disorder: Impairs normal functioning

PMADs affect 1 in 5-7 moms and 1 in 10 dads.
If you had a PMAD during your first pregnancy, you have a 50% chance of experiencing one in your second pregnancy.

You don’t have to do this alone. I am here to hold space for you, help guide you through the journey, and provide support to you.
